Anika Nilles
Anika Nilles (born May 29, 1983, in Aschaffenburg, Germany) is a German drummer, composer, and educator known for her technical precision and musical groove. After first working in social care, she switched to music in her late 20s, studying at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. She gained global attention around 2013 through her YouTube videos of original songs like “Wild Boy.” Nilles has released acclaimed albums such as Pikalar (2017) and For a Colorful Soul (2020), blending jazz, funk, and progressive styles. She tours internationally, has performed with Jeff Beck, and heads the drum department at Popakademie. In 2025, she was announced as the new drummer for Rush’s upcoming reunion tour.
